CSP Class of 2024 Masters Student Ali Boutros participated in Kelpfest along with researchers from Moss Landing Marine Lab, UC Berkeley, Cal Poly Humboldt, Sonoma State and others.
During Kelpfest, Ali showed the “community-led” kelp work in progress at Caspar Cove. She said in an article in the Fort Bragg Advocate-News, “Because kelp forests and kelp itself are highly interconnected with humans, well-being, and tradition, the loss on the North Coast really impacted people from the personal livelihood and economic well-being level to state and federal economies.” She noted, “People who were impacted wanted to be part of the solution.”
Ali is giving her final capstone project presentation, Advancing Future Community Involvement in Ecological Restoration, this month. View video of Ali introducing her capstone project.
