Chinonso “Chino” started the story map as part of his CSP capstone project. The story map seeks to track progress on Oakland’s 2020 Equitable Climate Action Plan (ECAP) goals. Following graduation, Chino joined the Oakland’s Sustainability Team supporting implementation fo the ECAP and more. In the past year, he has continued to add and update the map with new information to help the City communicate and showcase its accomplishments across the 40 ECAP actions.
The City shared that the goals of the new tool include:
- Centralizing communication on climate equity related projects undertaken by the various departments throughout the City,
- Highlighting the City’s ECAP progress in a manner that is accessible to a large number of Oakland residents, and
- Creating ECAP reporting and communication mechanisms for greater transparency
