The Important Shark and Ray Areas (ISRA) committee has recognized the importance of Bahía de Banderas, México for the conservation of oceanic mantas and other shark and rays species. First-year CSP master’s student Aldo A. Zavala Jiménez was part of the group of researchers who proposed the area as an important area. Aldo is currently developing his capstone plan in this bay to promote oceanic manta conservation through collaborative dynamic ocean management with local small-scale fishermen, tourism service providers, and boat captains.
